Training

Bateria

Training 2A typical training session involves a warm-up section, where we perform stretches and exercises to prepare our body for the movements of capoeira.  After this, we learn new movements, and new combinations of movements.  Much of this is practised in pairs so that we begin to get a feel for how it will be applied in the game.

There will also be a some time spent with body conditioning, and introducing the more acrobatic movements.  Towards the end of a session we will always practise music, songs, and bring what we have learned during the class into capoeira games which are played in a roda (circle).

Beginners Classes

As capoeira is a multi-faceted art form, we generally recommend that absolute beginners attend one of our beginners courses. These are six-week introductory classes which are an opportunity to explore the fundamental movements of capoeira with other beginners.  These courses run every few months. Check the calendar, or contact ben:  ben@filhosdeangola.co.uk to find out when the next course is running.

Training 4If you're new, and don't want to wait for a course to start training, that's fine.  All our classes are mixed ability.  We're a friendly group and love to meet enthusiastic new people. Just come along to the regular classes.

How to find us

We train regularly Mondays and Thursdays 8-10pm at DMAC Dance Studios at Hamilton House but check out the calendar to find out exactly what's happening this week. Hamilton House is a large community art space on Stokes Croft, above The Canteen Bar.

Wear some loose clothes, and some light trainers if you have them.  And don't stress about your fitness level.  Capoeira is a great way to get fit, amongst many many other things...
